In the beginning...
There were role players. There were goths. They came
together, and formed a secret society of sorts. Of course, this is only
the 'scene' as I know it. The scene in New York City. In other
places, it is not the same. Here, there were people, drawn together for
various reasons, Vampyres looking for a sense of community. Otherkin
looking for a place to belong. And they formed Clans, Houses, Guilds,
Packs, and...Courts.
COURTS
The court system is simple. The head of court, or regent,
is the law-maker. Like a king's regent, a court regent rules over the
court's citizens, with a just and fair word. Below the regent is the sheriff, or keeper of the blood.
This man or woman is the law-enforcer. She keeps the peace between
houses, and other courts, making sure that the laws of court, and above
all, the Black Veil, is upheld. Seated next to the sheriff, is the scribe, or keeper of the scroll. She records citizenships, goings-on of court, conflicts, resolutions, and all news of the domain.
Below this triumvirate,
of course are the court's citizens. Citizen status is given to
attendees of court who fulfill certain regulations, and are welcomed
into the inner circle. Citizens may vote in elections of council, have
their voice heard by the council, and ascend the heirarchy of houses or
clans.
